In the third of this four-part professional development series, NYCI’s Arts Programme will facilitate a conversation between Nichola Mooney, youth worker and Fiona Whelan, artist, who have been working together with young people from Rialto Youth Project in Dublin for eight years. For the first hour of the session, Nichola and Fiona will discuss their most recent work as part of What's the Story?




In the last in this four-part professional development series, Nick Mack will lead a session based around evaluating, documenting and celebrating youth arts activities with young people. The workshop will give participants an opportunity to explore how evaluation can be a valuable means to appreciate and communicate what has been achieved in youth arts activities and the difference that they make,  as well as helping in planning future projects and in sharing good practice.




As part of TRAVELLER PRIDE WEEK Axis Arts Centre Ballymun is hosting a rerun of the successful production The Trailer of Brigid Dinnegan. This is a chance to witness a show that is the result of an experimental 2-year process of research, development, adaptation and collaboration between theatre-maker and writer Dylan Tighe, Traveller activist Catherine Joyce, 11 Traveller women and a team of leading theatre artists.




Up to 5 million people, almost twice as many as currently benefit from the scheme, could get the chance to study or train abroad with a grant from Erasmus for All, the new EU programme for education, training, youth and sport proposed by the European Commission today.




The Red Cross’s Positive Images toolkit is an educational resource for teachers, youth workers and other educators to teach young people about migration and development and by using the toolkit, educators can help young people relate issues of migration and development to themselves and their communities, and empower them to take action. Having been available since 2009, the toolkit has now been revised and can be downloaded for free here:




The Story So Far, is an online publication featuring a portfolio of FOMACS creative arts and media projects, forged in collaboration with diverse public partners and civil society networks during the last four years. Framed as a case study, it is hoped that this online publication will allow readers to retrospectively explore our distinctive approach to migration and social justice, and experience a wide range of educational and creative outputs.

Working within a dynamic arts and culture environment, The Playhouse/ Artskills, wishes to expand its database of freelance Art Facilitators & Literacy Tutors. The Playhouse/Artskills delivers an expanding range of high quality Arts Educational Projects with young people aged 16 to 24years old.




Finglas Artsquad are now looking to employ Community Artists. The Project is a Community Employment Projectt, so those interested must be eligible under FAS criteria, check with your local FAS office. It is a 19.5 hour week. You will have the opportunity to work with children from 7-11 years of age through Arts and Crafts and Adults within the centre and in outreach centres. They will also be involved in Murals and Exhibitions.

The Starbucks Foundation solicits applications from organisations that provide young people a continuum of services in developing creative approaches to address pressing concerns in their communities. Grant size and expectations: $10,000 to $30,000(USD) on average.

Dublin City Council Arts Office is currently seeking interns for 2012. The internships are designed to extend interns knowledge and understanding of how a Local Authority Arts Office works. Duties may include assisting in programming, PR & marketing updating databases, updating websites, archiving, and general administrative support for the arts office programmes which include:




Young people aged 4-18 are invited to participate in an international competition "Fairy Tales of a Beautiful Heart" held under the aegis of UNESCO. Children of different nations are asked to create fairy tales, paintings, photos or animations reflecting human values and ideals of peace and non-violence. As a result of the competition a book will be issued with the winning children's fairy tales and illustrations.

Show Racism the Red Card is calling for teachers, tutors and youth workers to register their groups to participate in the Anti- Racism Creative Competition 2012.  Deadline for entries will be the last Friday of February.  The competition is open to primary and secondary schools and also youth services and youthreach centres.  An awards presentation will take place in the AVIVA stadium in April.




Crooked House Young Playwrights’ & Directors' Programme:

Are you aged between 14 and 26? Would you like to write a play or a musical?  Crooked House Theatre Company (CHTC) in Newbridge is making an open call to all young playwrights and would-be playwrights to create a new play or musical that will be staged in October 2012 as part of a Festival of new work by young writers. Applications close on Dec 31st 2011.




The National Sculpture Factory is currently recruiting for the position of receptionist. All Candidates need to be eligible for a FÁS Community Employment Scheme. Experience of the arts sector would be beneficial.

Budget 2012 is anticipated to have more serious consequences for community and voluntary organisations with another €3.8billion to be cut out of public expenditure.
