The National Youth Council of Ireland’s Arts Programme is a partnership approach to promoting and developing youth arts in Ireland. The programme developed from recommendations in the report Making Youth Arts Work 1993, which advises that
'those responsible for policy and provision in youth work should understand that the forms and materials of arts and cultural activity are particularly conducive to enacting many of the personal and social processes which characterise adolescence and young adulthood'.
NYCI’s Arts Programme aims specifically to realise the potential of young people through good quality arts practice in the youth service and to develop appropriate policies and activities at local, regional and national level.
