Voluntary Arts Ireland: Epic Awards Entries Sought

The Epic Awards shine a spotlight on the excellent work of voluntary and amateur arts groups. The awards scheme is now to open to groups across the UK and Republic of Ireland. Your group could win a package of prizes and have your work showcased to millions by Voluntary Arts, the development agency for arts participation. A winner and runner up will be chosen from each country.

The Epic Awards 2011 are an initiative of Voluntary Arts, the national development agency for arts participation. Voluntary Arts offers information, advice, training and development opportunities to those in the voluntary arts sector, from small local groups to large national organisations.

The Epic Awards welcome entries from all parts of the UK and ROI for projects or initiatives that combine some or all of the elements that make up ‘epic’ arts or crafts programme. The awards want to reward groups that have done great work since January 2010, but if your project or initiative is ongoing you can still enter. It helps if your group can show what has been achieved and what is planned for the future. There will be a winner and runner-up from each of the nations: England, Ireland (including the Republic of Ireland), Scotland and Wales. For more information and to apply to the Epic awards see http://epicawards.co.uk/

Youth arts can broadly be defined as young people taking part voluntarily in creative, cultural or expressive activity outside of the formal education process. It can encompass participation and appreciation, as well as engagement with arts work specifically created by, with or for young people.
